Everyday Curls - Hot Tools Curling Iron

In today's post I'm sharing my everyday curls and how SUPER simple it is to get this look. I pretty much wear my hair like this everyday - pinned half up, half down. Since these are bigger curls, it takes way less time to do my hair.

Here I'm using a Hot Tools 1.25" barrel curling iron that I picked up from Ulta. It's super easy to handle, I love how quick it is to heat up and curl - plus the cast and design just makes it visually more appealing to use than my gross, junky $15 curling iron from Walgeen's that's probably older than some of the kids I nanny, haha!

Be sure to spray your hair, focusing on the ends where the iron will sit the longest. I'm using the Tresemme extra strength heat protectant spray and my Wet Brush to comb the product through my hair.

Now you can start curling! Take wide pieces, wrap around the barrel at least twice and then roll the barrel up your head a bit more so everything - even the ends - are wrapped up. I don't slowly pull the ends out for this look like I usually do. Just hold for 5-6 seconds - or until you smell burning hair (just kidding), and release. DON'T BRUSH THROUGH.

aaaaaand you're done! Be sure to curl all the hair TOWARDS your face and do NOT brush out the curls. When you're done you'll notice the hair is pretty weighted - separate the crown of your hair, add some hairspray and tease, tease, tease until your a little bit closer to god.

Once your hair is higher than a kite, smooth down the top part and hold with bobby pins. Voila! A super simple hairstyle that's perfect for any and every occasion. Spray all over to hold and you're good to go! No midwest weather will be able to stand a chance against this 'do.

Feathered Skirt - Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day Week! I'm so lucky to be able to spend this month with someone who means a lot to me. Regardless of having a valentine or not, February is a great excuse to pull out your favorite pinks and reds and get excited for warmer, spring weather just around the corner. Don't you love when the wind gets in your face and ruins your entire mini photoshoot!?! :')

I'm wearing this feathered BCBG skirt I had been eyeing on Pinterest for MONTHS. I finally found one I really liked on New Years Eve and has without a doubt been my favorite purchase for 2017 so far. It's so easy to dress up or down.

Here I'm wearing it with a super simple pink top from (yes) Hollister Co. Don't hate. They fit so well!

These thigh-high boots from Nordstrom are so so comfy and great to wear with skirts, dresses or really fitted pants when you want to dress up your look. I love that the calf of the boots are more on the slimmer-side. It's really hard to find decently fitted boots without getting those wrap around ones that make you look like a mummy.

Winter Cozy with Pastel Pink

The one answer I give to everyone when they're asking how to build a wardrobe is so simple: Find what you feel good in.
What colors are you drawn to and feel most like yourself in? What complements your skin tone, hair color and figure? Build off of that to create simple looks that you can wear for years and you will always be happy, comfortable and humble with how you feel.

Lately I have found I feel most like myself with soft colors and neutrals. This color block scarf from Marshall's is the perfect accessory for winter months transitioning to spring. I love the soft, muted pinks and shades of gray because that means you can wear it with similar colored pants, tops and accessories without overthinking anything.

I bought these matte black Hunter boots from my friend's mom a few months back and I'm surprised at how much use I have actually got out of them! They are so easy to throw on and I really like the matte vs glossy finish. They are a bit dirty here but that just means they got a lot of love, right?

Blogging secret: That Starbucks is totally empty, I just found it in the car.. Ha!
On a scale of one to ten how White Girl did I get with this look?

Sleeveless Camel Trench

Vests, jackets and anything else that's easy to throw over an outfit are my absolute favorite ways to dress up an outfit. I bought this amazing camel colored Halogen sleeveless vest trench from Nordstrom Rack last fall and completely fell in love.

It's not extremely weighted, nor is it too light which makes it perfect for spring, fall or an indoor activity during the winter months.

Pair it with a sleek, black turtleneck, black pants and some flats or wedges and you're out the door! I wore this outfit in Las Vegas for the Winter Market where we were outside from building to building for a bit but spent most of our time walking the showrooms and hitching a ride on the escalators all day.

It was also great to wear for dinner that same day as we didn't have time to get back to our hotel and change.

You can find me on Instagram @sally_broker for more outfit pictures not on my blog.

Two toned flats - originally from Target. Here are links to some dupes in this outfit:
