2014 Rewind

Before I say goodbye to 2014, I'm recapping some of my favorite moments of the year...

Passing 1k subscribers on Youtube!
This may not seem like a lot compared to other channels but I've had my channel for almost 2 years now. I've purchased my equipment, researched and taught myself how to edit videos and the functioning behind Youtube and I've learned a lot the past year. For someone who doesn't advocate their channel or beg people on other channels to watch mine, I'm pretty proud of where I am with my audience number. And one of my videos has almost 45k views! I've met a lot of new friends through Youtube, too. It's pretty fun to talk to people that have the same interests as you outside of school and work.

Over the summer I took up a lot of fun DIY projects to de-stress my brain. I have a Michael's store literally 2 minutes from my house. There is also a Target right next to it (this is a blessing and a curse). One of the projects I did was a sequin hanger. I'd seen them on Etsy and Pinterest but the price was about $15-20 for just a single hanger. Of course, I decided to make one myself and when I saw Michael's was asking users on Instagram to share their favorite projects made with Michael's materials, I jumped on it right away. My picture ended up being on the NASDAQ screen in Times Square New York! I've never been to NY but at least my picture lived the dream for me!

I've made several new friends from doing what I love and I am so grateful to know each individual person. 2014 was a great year for me. I learned and changed so much, met new people, and started at a new University with a new major. I said hello and goodbye to my boyfriend many times in our long distance relationship, I've had my ups and my downs in my job. I turned 20 this year and cut 12+ inches off my hair length. I was Mrs. Banks in Mary Poppins and celebrated birthdays with my best friends from High School. I went to Florida with another best friend and laughed until I cried. The promise of the new year always brings opportunity and excitement for change in my life. To end this year, I'm sharing my 14 favorite looks. Thank you for joining me on this ride, who ever you are and where ever you are. Thank you thank you thank you.

Winter Makeup Routine

One of my favorite things about the weather changing is experimenting with new makeup products. For many years this was more of a hassle and tragedy than fun as I have naturally dry skin skin. By changing up my nightly skin care routine I'm now able to have more fun with my makeup! Taking care of my skin first has taught me to never flake out on moisturizer. My winter makeup routine consists of mixing foundation, concealers, and anything else I can think of, together to make my skin nice and dewy even when it's only twenty-something degrees out and your humidifier is busted.

Check out my recent favorite products and I also have a new video too! You can find it at the end of this post.

After priming my skin, I like to mix a generous amount of the Clinique Moisture Surge with my Laura Mercier foundation and eye concealer to amp up my skin even more. The foundation itself is already pretty hydrating, you have to shake the tube at least ten seconds to mix the pigments and liquid together before applying.

Another recent favorite is this Amazonian clay 12-hr blush in Exposed from Tarte. I love their products and blushes and asked for a more winter appropriate shade for Christmas and I have been loving this color ever since. I focus my blush color towards the edges of my face and pretty high up on my cheek bones.

To set my makeup I've been using the Make Up Forever HD powder. I love translucent powders. This pressed powder feels amazing on my fingers and makes my skin look amazing once I've finished my makeup routine.

I've been hooked on Revlon balm stains for what feels like years and I can't get enough of the shade, Crush. It was perfect for the fall months and I guess it's perfect for the winter months too since I can't stop using it. My complexion tends favors deep wine and berry colors more than it does bubble gum pinks and certain reds.

Holiday LBD

When it comes to dressing for the holidays, you can never go wrong with an LBD. I've seen this style of dress on the internet everywhere, and when I finally spotted it at Kohl's I knew I had to get it. It's such a timeless piece and can be worn pretty much year-round. Since the dress is gorgeous on it's own I paired this look with nude heels and a chunky long necklace from my Chloe + Isabel boutique.

Christmas season is here! Keep your eyes peeled for more holiday looks on my blog :)

Shop my boutique here.

Although I couldn't link to my exact dress, here are some of my favorites that look extremely similar and for an even better price!

This one from Juliana's is SO cute! Use my code "sally" at checkout for 10% off :)

Styling Shorts during Winter

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

One of my favorite purchases this past year has been this pair of shorts from my local Plato's Closet. The brand is Forever21 and I love the iridescent threads throughout the design. Since these shorts are so long they can almost pass as a skirt!

I paired them with black tights and black heels for a more wearable winter look. Black shoes and black tights or jeggings is pretty much my go-to look during the winter months. I love how it elongates my legs but still lets other accessories or pieces of clothing stand out. Adding my favorite geometric gold accessories brings out the tan and gold threading throughout the shorts. I've seen shorts like this everywhere! I bet if you hunted around you could probably find some on sale :)

Indian Summer

The weather was unseasonably warm this day. I found myself not needing a coat and seeing all the snow melt made me happy for the random warm weather but I almost missed the snow, since I'm just now starting to feel in the Christmas spirit. I actually wore this outfit to my night class last week. I was frantically looking for something to wear and at the very last minute I decided to go for something sleek and timeless - all black with light brown boots. I'm so glad I did because this is the type of outfit that makes me feel confident yet comfortable.

I'm thinking of lightening my hair again once it grows out a few more inches :) Dark hair in the winter just makes me look sickly and I'm loving how the color in the ends of my hair have faded. This may be a Christmas present to myself :)
