Do it for the Insta

I recently stumbled across a hilarious article on Facebook that Rachel from Rachhloves posted. Olivia Muenter unmasked what she was really doing whilst taking her Instagram pictures. I love this article because she explains that she loves capturing beautiful moments and objects in her life because that is how she likes to perceive them. I find no harm in that at all - I do the same and think of photography as a celebration of life. Of course, there is always some truth about these photos we post on Instagram. Read her article here to understand the next section of my post

I've been inspired by her post to share what really goes on behind my Instagram posts :) I hope you get a good laugh and see that I'm also human ;)

What it looks like I'm doing...
I WOKE UP LIKE DIS.
My hair has these amazing bed-head but not too messy but still beachy waves and I'm actually barely wearing any makeup at all. I have the perfect coral lip and sun kissed glow, the bottom half of the picture is practically radiating light!

What I'm actually doing/thinking...
This is actually third day hair.. Are you completely disgusted of me now? good :) I can't believe how good the filter on this camera is, it covered up literally every ounce of acne on my face. And there was a lot that day. My face hurt. I probably should have cleaned my camera before taking this..

What it looks like I'm doing...
After working such a long day it's time to relax with a tropical smoothie that matches my sunglasses that match my nails that match my bracelet.

What I'm actually doing/thinking...
It was completely thunder storming outside when I made this smoothie. The only white furniture in my whole house is the little night stand in my room. I raced upstairs, shoved everything off for the picture because THE SHOW MUST GO ON! I then spent 10 minutes trying to take the picture. In-between  shots I kept drinking the smoothie - notice it's more than half empty ;)

What it looks like I'm doing...
Just heading off to a glorious day at the pool. The angelic children I nanny will be such a delight to watch over as I watch them from my lounge chair.

What I'm actually doing/thinking...
The place I ended up taking the kids I sit was actually just a little park with water spewing from the ground. It was SO crowded and SO hot. The kids whined and complained the whole day. I was also almost late picking them up because I had to get the light just right for this pic.

What it looks like I'm doing...
It's a beautiful day in Chicago. I have spent the entire day shopping around, looking like a million bucks in my white jeans and cheetah print tank top. Oh, look, a garden! Let me explore the beautiful flowers around me.

What I'm actually doing/thinking...
We didn't get into the city until almost 5 o'clock that day because we missed 2 trains and my friends cell phone wasn't receiving any messages or calls from me. This was taken with barely any daylight so I had to amp up the brightness of this pic as much as it would let me. An asian couple and a group of segway-ers watched me take this pic in the park. My nail polish was chipping immensely. There is a hole in the crotch of my jeans. To get this photo just right I had to stand at the edge of the walkway and hunch over the flowers then extend my arm out like i'm holding a go pro to take a picture of my freakin hand.

What it looks like I'm doing...
I love college! Between drinking frappucinos and studying for exams, I like to casually stroll through the campus, letting the wind sway my pleated skirt as I strut in my cheetah shoes.

What I'm actually doing/thinking...
I had to take the stairs at the end of the building for this picture. I've done this several times with my other posts. There are doors at the top and bottom of the stairs, so I wait on the landing until I think the coast is clear.. then snap snap snap I take a crud ton of pictures hoping at least one came out okay. Then I hurry down the stairs so it looks like I'm just passing through. Usually 75% of them are all blurry... I got lucky with this one. Also, that drink is completely empty but I saved it just for the insta pic ;)

What it looks like I'm doing...
Oh hey! Just wandering through the city.. oh you'd like to take a picture of me? Sure I'll just stand by this random brick wall. Good thing I'm wearing my fedora today!

What I'm actually doing/thinking...
I had to drag my boyfriend to my community college on a weekend when no one was there so that way he could take a ton of blog pictures for me. I just put those shorts in a pile for a garage sale because you can literally see my butt cheeks when I squat down. I've worn that fedora once this summer... I think it was for this blog post.

What it looks like I'm doing...
Here I am, relaxing on a cute little wooden chair next to my boyfriend. My chocolate chip cherry ice cream looks amazing with my bright blue manicured nails holding it. It's the perfect temperature outside and I feel AMAZING!

What I'm actually doing/thinking...
I was so sick the next day from the ice cream. I don't think I've had real ice cream for over 7 years hahaha. Being lactose intolerant RULES!!! It was so hot outside I didn't even remember walking back to the car because I was so dehydrated. I had to take this picture extremely fast because there were a million people next to us and my boyfriend hates when I instagram. Also, it took me like 30 minutes to finish the ice cream because I am such a slow eater.

I hope you found at least some of this amusing ;) My life is hilariously unglamorous. My best friend and I always say, 'do it for the insta,' when we're taking 30+ pictures to find the best one for Instagram. I love instagram and will continue to take my photos in a completely staged manner :) I love making things seem more beautiful and unchaotic than my life really is, but, sometimes it's important to remember that's not real :)
